Katherine Brooks has a passion for helping people. When you are at the closing table with Katherine, it’s easy to see she enjoys celebrating with you and is honored to be a part of your big day. In addition to providing legal advice regarding residential and commercial real estate closings–and guiding you through your closing–she also enjoys assisting clients with estate planning needs and entity formation.
Notably, Katherine earned her B.A. in both Criminal Justice/Criminology and Sociology from The University of South Carolina (2012) and her Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law (2015). There, she served as Editor-in-Chief of The Federal Courts Law Review and Student Bar Association Secretary. She was also the recipient of the “Giving Back Award” for her outstanding efforts in public service and leadership.
Upon graduation, Katherine practiced Higher Education Law, serving as Associate University Counsel and Deputy University Counsel at Coastal Carolina University (in-house counsel roles). Then, shifting her focus to residential real estate, she relocated to the Upstate of South Carolina, and worked for an established firm in Greenville, South Carolina before coming on board at Toates Law Firm.
Outside the office, Katherine serves on the Board for Mosaic Inspire, a discipleship ministry with Grace Church seeking to equip and disciple children, students, and adults with disabilities. She also enjoys exploring Greenville, playing trivia and competitive card and board games, and possesses a deep love and appreciation for Fine Arts (particularly musical theatre).
